Does anyone else use Amazon Associates from New Zealand, to NZ users?
It appears to have a lot of potential for NZ users and affiliates but wherever I've seen it used and talked to the website operator, their conversions are incredibly low for it .. in the few dollars a month level which is not even worth the time of putting it up.
Anyone have a situation where it's working? _________________ NZ Affiliate Programs

Kia ora,
I used to use them years ago, but found that that I was not making much. Then FlyingPig started and as they were a NZ bookstore, I tried them and made much more sales.
Unfortunatley FlyingPig closed, so it was back to Amazon, and once again sales tappered off to nothing (from a few each month with FlyingPig)
Now there is Fishpond and I use them instead of Amazon and again I am getting monthly sales.
Looking back, it is interesting that I was offering the same books with Amazon, then FlyingPig, then Amazon then Fishpond and whenever Amazon was the affiliate the sales was basically 0 and when it was not Amazon, the sales were monthly.
Hmmm.... now I wonder why that is? Could it be because people prefer to buy from NZ places or the Amazon system is not good?
However, there are other affiliate programs that I use that are out of the US and they have sales regularly..... |

Kia ora Kotitihaere,
Speaking purely from personal experience as a shopper.
I ordered parcels of books three times from Amazon over the period 1998 to 2004. In each case I waited until I had a reasonably sized parcel to order, I think my smallest order was 6 books. I did it this way because I perceived their freight charges to be too high for single books.
Another issue I have is that I think of delivery times from Amazon as being slow ... this is probably a function of selecting the cheapest despatch method.
I have no idea now if I got to Amazon via an affiliate link, but it was probably expired by the time I actually placed the order.
I'm not averse to ordering on the net, and just last week ordered my business cards from Australia that way.
I do know that if the price and quality was the same I'd much rather order from a New Zealand business for the hopefully faster delivery and additional consumer protection that gives. As long as they don't ruin their reputation the way flying pig did, I'd be more likely to click on a fishpond link than an Amazon one.

True! I always try to find NZ places to shop first, or NZ based affiliate programs, before looking at offshore places.
When I first started to create my Iwi products for the Maori Mega Mall I was using a site run from overseas, then I found that I could use the same system from a site run by someone in Christchurch. So I moved everything to their site and closed my account at the other site! Much prefer to support our own first |
